Legionnaire celebrates 65-years of membership

Charles Flentje Post 461 of Round Lake presented Dayle Von Holdt with a certificate of 65 years of continuous membership in the American Legion and Post 461 on Saturday, March 2nd. On hand to present Von Holdt with his certificate were Ned A. Jones, Commander of Post 461, Cindy Brunk, 2nd District Commander of the American Legion-Department of Minnesota, Judy Ackerman, representing her daughter who is the President of the 2nd District American Legion Auxiliary and Ackerman herself is a Past President of the 2nd District and three of Von Holdt’s four children, Rick, Julie and Brad Von Holdt.

Von Holdt entered active duty in the US Army on August 21, 1952 and was honorably discharged on June 3, 1954. He served in Korea as a medic attached to a field artillery battery. Soon after his discharge, Von Holdt joined the American Legion in Round Lake and kept his membership current every year. He was an active member of the Post 461 honor guard performing military honors at the interments for Round Lake area veterans.

The Von Holdt family in return presented Post 461 Commander Ned A. Jones with a donation of $100 dollars in appreciation of the support the Legion gives to area veterans, children and youth, and the Community at large.
