With Election Day nearing the campaign ads are in abundance. I’ve tried to sit back and just listen; we’ve attended forums, watched social media, etc. to be kept informed.
I’ve seen Sheriff Telkamp attacked by commissioners and opponents. I’ve seen him handle it with respect and dignity. Yes, I’ve heard the recordings of him using emotion and words he probably shouldn’t have. Have you ever been upset and said something you regretted? I know I have.
What I haven’t heard are the audio recordings of a few people at a commissioner meeting discussing ‘getting rid’ of Telkamp. I’ve heard rumor of a ‘plan’ if Sheriff Telkamp wins the election. In my opinion, it’s still a witch hunt and it needs to stop. If Steve is elected sheriff, again, it’s because the citizens of Murray County want him in office and that should be respected.
It’s hard to teach our children to respect each other and be kind when we aren’t living it.
My vote will go to Sheriff Telkamp.
