Making socks into animals

Several children and adults gathered at Fulda City Hall on Wednesday evening to use their creative imaginations and  make socks into  stuffed animals. Under the instruction of artist and teacher, Jen Anfinson, a variety of animals were made during the Sock Animal Workshop.

There were monkeys, kittens, a robot and several other stuffed, cuddly animals that went home with the workshop participants.

Anfinson had done some prep work with the socks so that the students could begin stuffing “legs” of their animal with poly fill. As they worked, Anfinson explained the step-by-step process for making the sock animals.

“You can use the heavy string to make the neck of your animal. Just tie it anywhere around your sock, depending on how long of a head you want your creation to have.  But you can also slip the front legs under the string before you tie it. Then you don’t have to sew the legs on, but if you want to sew the legs on you certainly can,” Anfinson explained.
