To kick off the fun of this year’s Fulda Wood Duck Festival, Maple Lawn Senior Care residents were invited to tour the Fulda Fire Department trucks and learn about the gear and equipment used by the firefighters.
At 2 p.m. on Monday, five fire trucks rolled up to the front of Maple Lawn Senior Care Center. Residents were awaiting the fire fighters on the patio.
Fire Chief David Baumhoefner, assisted by Gary Clarke, Darby Stewart, Shawn Ethridge, and Brian Noerenberg, visited with the residents about their new fire fighter’s turn-out gear, explaining that the fabric could withstand temperatures that range between 1200 to 2000 degrees. Their boots are manufactured to protect their feet from sharp objects and provide comfort in weather elements.
