Bubbling with enthusiasm, Abby Hayenga is busily readying a Fulda Elementary School third floor classroom for the first day of school 2017-2018. Her motto “Work Hard and be Kind” will be easily visible positioned above the Smart Board in the room.
Hayenga was hired by the Fulda School Board as a third grade teacher for the 2017-2018 year. She will partner with Julie Lorenz in teaching the third grade age students. For the grade, Lorenz will be teaching reading and Hayenga will teach both sections of Math.
Besides being a third grade teacher, Hayenga is the head coach for the Fulda Raiders Volleyball Team. They began practice on Monday morning.
Hayenga was born and raised in Windom, graduating from Windom High School in 2012. She is the daughter of Tim and Kris Hayenga and has one brother, Hunter, age 19.
During high school, she was very active in volleyball, basketball, and softball. Following graduation, she attended Southwest Minnesota State University, graduating in 2016 with a Early Childhood and Elementary Education Degree, accompanied with a minor in Special Education.
