Minnesota author Candace Simar to speak at Fulda City Hall – November 15

Minnesota historical author Candace Simar will be at Fulda City Hall on Wednesday, November 15, 2:30 p.m. Simar is from Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.

Simar’s work has received awards from the Western Writers of America, Women Writing the West, Midwest Book Awards, Bob Dylan Creative Writing Contest, Lake Region Review, League of Minnesota Poets, National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Dust and Fire and the Brainerd Writer’s Alliance.

She is a member of the Western Writers of America, Women Writing the West and the Catholic Writer’s Guild.

Some titles of the books that Simar has written are Abercrombie Trail. Pomme De Terre, Birdie, and the Blooming Prairie, which is known as the Abercrombie Trail Series. The series recounts the story of Scandinavian immigrants during the 1862 Sioux Indian Uprising.  She has also written Shelterbelts and Dear Homefolks, as well as co-authoring a book entitled Farm Girls with her sister, Angela Foster.

During her appearance in Fulda, Simar will give a short reading and speak about her research and writing.  Her books will be available for purchase.
