On Saturday, March 24th, Molly Schweinfurter, Redwood Falls, MN, will return to Fulda for a Genealogy Workshop. The event will be held at Fulda Memorial Library and is free and open to the public.
Schweinfurter became interested in genealogy after a history elective class that she took during her last semester at St. Cloud State University. “The professor had us look at where we came from, and for me that sparked an interest in genealogy and local history.”
Schweinfurter said that is encourages those who attend her Genealogy Workshops to avoid “if only” syndromes when researching their roots. “We never know how much time we have with anyone, so if you are thinking of getting started in genealogy, go and do those visits where you can, or as you can. It led to several great connections for me! My advice is to take your time, document what you research, and be sure to site your sources.”
Schweinfurter said that it is very important to begin with what you do know…yourself, your parents, your aunts and uncles and build the family history from there on.
Schweinfurter is a 1990 graduate of Redwood Falls-Morton High School. She attended St. Cloud State University where she majored in English with an emphasis on writing and a minor in film studies.
She is employed as a library clerk at the Redwood Public Library where she is in charge of the library’s genealogy and local history department.
