Momogram Meats sends a little “love” to mobilized Minnesota military members

“There’s nothing better than receiving a package when you’re stationed overseas,” shared Second District Commander Cindy Brunk. The Shop, Ship & Share event at the Maplewood Mall in the Twin Cities does just that.

A story on KTSP highlighted this year’s event which featured hundreds of volunteers packaging, labeling and preparing boxes for over 1500 Minnesota military members who are mobilized. The event was originally started 12 years ago by Teresa Ash, organizer, who had a son serving.

As a veteran who has served abroad, Brunk knew the importance of these boxes – especially as the holiday nears.  She had served in Afghanistan and knew that one of the favorite items received was beef jerky.  While attending a rally in Lake Wilson, Brunk reached out to Jim Hunt’s (Vice Commander) wife, Rose, who is employed with Monogram Meat Snacks of Chandler to see if they might provide some product for this cause. Brunk thought putting in a request for 1500 packages was unrealistic so she started with 500 – knowing this wasn’t going to cover the number needed and even thought about purchasing the rest out of her own pocket.
