Morgan Gehl is All-State… Times Two!

The state’s best track and field athletes gathered at Hamline University last weekend for the 2018 State Track and Field meet. Among the best was Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda freshman Morgan Gehl. Her performances capped a brilliant season for the first year combined schools’ Coyote team.

Gehl competed in the 3200 meter run on Friday and the 1600 meter run on Saturday. She finished in fourth place in both races, good enough to put her on the awards stand and be named to the All-State team! This was Gehl’s 3rd straight trip to the “Big Show” at Hamline, the last two years representing the Fulda Raiders. As a 7th grader Morgan finished in 16th place in the 3200. Last year she moved up to 5th place in the same event. Quite a success already, she made it a goal to move up even higher in the standings.
