Having recently moved up from fourth to third in the latest Class A girls’ cross country rankings, released by the Minnesota High School Cross Country Coaches Association, the well-balanced Murray County Central / Fulda Warriors ran another strong team race at the huge Dragon Invitational at the Adrian Golf Club last Tuesday, October 8.
Despite finishing behind an even more balanced up-front performance by the Class AA Marshall Tigers, the Warriors maintained their third-place Class A rating by finishing second at Adrian, outrunning fourth-ranked Luverne for a second time this season.
Marshall (3-6-7-10-11) won the team title with a mere 37 points, while MCC / Fulda (1-8-9-24-25) was second among the 17-team field with 67 points, 14 better than third-place Luverne’s total of 81 and 30 points ahead of fourth-place Canby / Minnesota’ score of 97.
Redwood Valley (162) was fifth, followed closely by Pipestone Area (164) and Southwest Minnesota Christian / Edgerton (165). Springfield / Cedar Mountain was eighth with 189 points, while Worthington (246), Adrian (267), Mountain Lake Area / Comfrey (270) and Tracy-Milroy- Balaton (343) also had complete scores. Windom, Jackson County Central, Ortonville, Heron Lake-Okabena and Ellsworth were all incomplete.
