The Murray County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, November 27th. Howard Konkol, ditch, appeared before the board with several ditch requests. In addition he updated the board on Lake Elsie repair estimates. The cost to remove the row of trees, stumps and leveling came is quite high coming in at approximately $43,000. Konkol feels the original plan of putting an intake on the south end along with a high level intake on the north end. This type of improvement can possibly be done for around the $25,000 figure.

Michael Ladevich, interim CEO for Murray County Medical Center, opened his statement to the board by complimenting the facility and the wonderful services it offers. He picked radiology as example and feels having the CT scanner, 3D mammography, and MRI is really awesome to have in a small town. “This is not only something we should brag about,” stated Ladevich, “but we should market the heck out of it.” In addition Ladevich stated there are a lot of great people working there. “I’m really impressed with the medical staff,” he said. Ladevich shared Dr. Snow will be returning on January 14th. “I think he will be a great mentor for the younger clinicians and a positive role model.” Ladevich believes one of the best ways to turn the facility around is to get more volume. Ladevich informed the board October was a good month at MCMC with 2.4 million in gross revenues with net revenues listed at 1.5 million. He said the difference in the revenues is due to the contractual adjustments (difference between what is charged and what is actually allowable via the insurance company, etc). October expense came in at 1.3 million with EBIDA at $209,000 positive and after depreciation the net income was $91,000. He said the October year-to-date figures tell a different story. There was over 20 million in gross revenue with net revenues listed at 13 million. Compared to October of 2017 the gross revenues are up $126,000 (1%), however the net revenues dropped by 9% – basically due to contractual adjustments. After depreciation the year-to-date net income is a negative 1.2 million. Currently MCMC is going through capital budgets currently tallying $790,000. Ladevich hopes to slash and cut costs as well as increasing revenues. Ladevich feels he has a lot more to go to completely understand the situation at MCMC but is confident the facility can get back on the right track. Ladevich feels one of the changes that needs to be made is collecting at the time of service. “Our accounts that are over 120 days past due huge and that’s indicative of how we’ve dropped the ball,” stated Ladevich.
