The Murray County Commissioners met in regular session this past Tuesday, July 16th. Amongst the items included were the approval of warrants presented by Heidi Winter, auditor-treasurer.
Additionally, ditch bills in the amount of $5,723.49 were also given the nod for payment.
Winter also brought forward pay application 3 for the courts building remodel project. The original contract was $285,100. There were $32,150.00 in net change orders with a deduction of -$5,490.00 for a grand total of $311,760.00. Pay application 3 tallied $98,881.70. The balance left to pay is $66,547.90 which includes $12,905.90 retainage. Christy Riley, communications director and overseer of the courts remodel, discussed the bill received from CBS Squared, Inc., architect on the project. The company went over the amount for contracted meetings submitting a bill for $8,268.80. Riley relayed her frustration, “We were not aware they were over their amount.” She felt like some of the extra meetings were due to things that were asked for and weren’t in the original specs. According to Riley, the courts administration has asked for a window to be put in and this is the last piece to the project. Winter commented she felt the architect should return to complete a punch list before receiving the retainage fee. Commissioner Thiner felt the architect should be willing to do the punch list as well as appear before the board and explain the bill received for additional meetings. The architect bill was tabled til a later date.
The board accepted a donation from the Fulda Community Growth Fund for improvements recently completed at Seven Mile Park. The donation in the amount of $3,620.80 helped cover the expenses incurred.
Winter also brought forward a request for a temporary 3.2 malt liquor license for Herbert Holtke American Legion Post 285, Lake Wilson. The post is asking to serve on sale liquor for a couple of wedding dances which will be taking place off their premises. The post is licensed through the city of Lake Wilson, however since these occasions are located outside of the city limits, the license needed to come before the county commissioners for approval. The dates approved were July 20-21, 2019 and August 3-4, 2019. Approval was given contingent upon proper paperwork and insurance is submitted.
