Murray County Commissioners hear from Buffalo Ridge Task Force members

Buffalo Ridge Task Force  (BRDTF) members were on hand for Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Murray County Commissioners. The group shared a slideshow depicting the work they have been involved with. Some of the statistics were staggering. The Task Force has been in existence for the past 14 years. Statistics include: 5500 active investigations, 1800 arrests, 345 fire arms seized, and over $4 million dollars in drugs confiscated. In addition, each year the group does prostitution stings.

Task Force agent, Edison Dengler, a nine year member, provided the visuals of their work via slideshow. Dengler explained there are 22 task forces throughout the state of Minnesota. Over 200 officers coming from 120 different agencies serve in this capacity. The local Buffalo Ridge Task Force structure includes six full time officers and one commander  coming from multiple agencies and serves a population of over 40,000. The group works out of a central office, explained Dengler, but also independently.

The Minnesota task forces operate under the Violent Crimes umbrella. “Any type of violent crime, we are going to investigate,” commented Dengler. Their jurisdiction includes the counties of Murray, Nobles, and Pipestone.
