A SUMMARY OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF APPEAL AND EQUALIZATION

June 20, 2017 – 6:00 p.m. Pursuant to law as fixed by Minnesota Statute Numbers 274.13 and 274.14, the Murray County Board of Appeal and Equalization met with the following members present: Commissioners Jens, Gunnink, Magnus, Kluis, Thiner and Heid E. Winter. Also present were Marcy Barritt, Jean Nelson, Amber Hansen, Aurora Heard, and Travis Smith.

MSP to reduce the estimated market value of Parcel Identification Number 03.026.003.0 (Ronald and Jane Vortherms) from $610,300 to $597,700 (a reduction of $12,600) for the 2017 assessment for taxes payable in 2018, to a correct a local assessor error changing the square footage of a new cement floor from 6,900 square feet to 3,300 square feet.

MSP to reduce the estimated market value of Parcel Identification Number 29.100.045.0 (Blake Heronimus) from $170,600 to $154,300 (a reduction of $16,300) for the 2017 assessment for taxes payable in 2018, due to the home being over improved for the neighborhood and the finished area over the garage not being complete.

MSP that the estimated market value of Parcel Identification Number 29.100.046.0 (Blake Heronimus) remain at $12,500 ($7,500 land; $5,000 building) for the 2017 assessment for taxes payable in 2018 due to the vacant house still being on the property on January 2, 2017. (The house was torn down in April, 2017 which will reduce the value for the 2018 assessment payable in 2019).

MSP to reduce the estimated market value of Parcel Identification Number 18.150.008.0 (Keith and Heather Jalbert) from $172,700 to $98,400 (a reduction of $74,300) for the 2017 assessment for taxes payable in 2018, due to the removal of a mobile home, carport, deck and shed prior to January 2, 2017.

MS to reduce the estimated market value (for tillable acres) of Parcel Identification Number 01.002.002.0 (Duane Jans) from $329,200 to $255,000 (a reduction of $74,200) for the 2017 assessment for taxes payable in 2018, due to potential flooding of tillable acres. The motion failed.
