Murray County Commissioners – Koch hired to fill position of emergency management service/safety director

The Murray County Commissioners had a short agenda for their July 23rd meeting. In attendance was the new Murray County Administrator, Tom Burke who officially started on Monday, July 22nd.

Heidi Winter, auditor, brought forward the warrants and ditch bills for board approval. Amongst the list of approvals for pay application 3 for JD 3 improvement project in the amount of $69,058.80. In addition, the following ditch bills as well CD 76A, JD20A/JD6, JD 5, CD 57, JD 14, CD 11 and 22, JD 11, JD 7, 11, 12, 17, 20, 26, and CD 30 for a total of all ditch bills of $23,319.50. Discussion took place regarding possible bonding combination for JD 3 and JD 20A as each are large projects.

Winter also shared there were no transfers made in June and the county purchased several investments which included two CDs at 2.61% for $1,000,000 from Currie State Bank. Additionally eight CDs were bought through MAGIC with interest rates ranging from 2.60% to 2.30% tallying $1,944,000 and the final CD was purchased from First National Bank for $1,000,000 at 2.51%. Winter explained all of the CDs are for a 12-month period.

Winter and Christy Riley, county coordinator, updated the board on the construction projects. Riley said the courts remodel should be finished up in the next week or two. The ACE building will have the roof completed in the next week and work has begun on the Holt House garage.
