Murray County Commissioners -Redeterminations for County Ditch 11 and County Ditch 57 approved

The Murray County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, November 19th. After approving the commissioner warrants, the group heard from Auditor/Treasurer Heidi Winter. She explained $100,000 was advanced to the ditch fund as it had gone in a deficit balance. Winter said this was mainly due to the JD 3 construction project. The plan is to float it with available fund balance then size a bond so we have actual costs associated with the construction project.

A final pay application was approved for the Sundquist Park bathroom as well as the final payment for the court’s bathroom remodel to Sandhurst Construction for $2,865. These were approved.

It was moved, and approved, to approve the ditch bills for payment. Ditch inspection report included seven petitions amongst them were JD19, JD14, CD20, JD19, JD15, CD61, and JD13.

The Missouri River Watershed Joint Powers Agreement will be reviewed and addressed at the November 26 meeting.

Administrator Thomas Burke brought forward information from the Minnesota Department of Human Services outling three areas that were not accurately billed which lead to the fact that $17,216.73 was overpaid to Southwest Health and Human Services by the Department of Human Services on behalf of Murray County and will need to be repaid.

Heath Landsman came forward with Commissioner Thiner questioning whether the recruitment process for the dispatcher/jailer should be intermittent versus part-time. The personnel committee felt with intermittent there isn’t sufficient training to handle calls and situations. Landsman explained the department can’t guarantee the individual hours as he doesn’t have a set schedule. Commissioner Thiner was requesting this hiree be a regular part-time, however, Landsman explained he has four dispatchers working 12 hour shifts and so there isn’t a permanent place in the schedule for a regular part-time position. He’s looking to be able to cover shifts when employees are sick or need time off. The position was tabled with the sheriff’s department asked to work with Tom Burke and figure out a plausible solution.
