Randy Groves, highway department, appeared before the board on Tuesday and updated them on the conference he attended. Groves shared one of the new state aid rule changes, the “road diet” (shrinking of lane width to make room for bike lanes), and new weight limits for certain truck hauling types. He will be attending the training in Marshall regarding these new rules.
He also recommended the board drop their membership to The Transportation Alliance. Groves feels the membership doesn’t really benefit Murray County. The annual membership is a savings of $1887.00.
Next he shared the 2018 budgeted equipment purchase requests. Included is a contractor utility trailer, skid loader, skid-steer mower, single axle sign truck cab and chassis, and tandem axle plow truck. All of the above had been put in the budget, Groves asked for the board’s approval to move forward with the purchases. All of the prices they presented are state bid prices. A nod of approval was given.
The board closed the meeting to consider the purchase of parcel #20-016-0071 or 20-014-0060.
