Murray County Medical Center puts actions in place to prepare for COVID 19

The board of the Murray County Medical Center met on Wednesday, March 25th at the courts building in Slayton. Due to social distancing no more than 10 people were allowed at the meeting and the six foot social distancing spacing was practiced.

Chair president Lenore Wendorff called the meeting to order. The agenda and last month’s meeting minutes were approved. Dr. Snow presented the recommendations for medical staff privileges and credentials. Included were Keith Block, LICSW (clinical social worker) appointed as an Allied Health Professional; Jillian Nedved, PA-C for general surgery; Gale Sisney, MD (radiology) was credentialed for consulting; Re-appointments were granted to Maurice Miller, MD (radiology) and Kimberlee Bohy, MD (pathology) for consulting.

Robyn Van Heuvelen provided financials for the facility. Acute admissions were pretty much the same the previous year while acute patient days were up 13 over last year’s numbers and overall is up 24 patients. Swing bed and respite patient days were down 18 with the year-to-date showing an increase of four. Surgeries were up by three for the month of February with the year-to-date number down by eight. Emergency room patients were down by three. MCMC had 636 clinic visits which is up 66 over last year’s mark and the year-to-date total is sitting at a positive 86. Physical therapy was also up with the 12 month total up 128 over last year. The lab remains very busy seeing an increase of 1180 over last year.
