The twenty-second annual Murray County Relay for Life event netted nearly $73,000. The night began with over 90 survivors attending a supper served in the 4-H hall. Janet Voges and Linda Tobias served as co-chairs for this year’s Relay.
The opening ceremonies kicked off at 6:00 p.m. with introductions and recognitions. The ribbon cutting was conducted by Shannon Pederson which kicked off the survivor lap.After the ribbon was snipped survivors took a short lap and then gathered in front of the flatbed for the introduction of the team parade champions followed with each team introduced along with their theme and activities they would be doing throughout the night.
The National Anthem was sung followed by the invocation and the annual release of butterflies which were donated by Totzke Funeral Home. Each survivor was presented a pink envelope that contained a single Monarch butterfly.
