A new cutting tool has been purchased by the Fulda Fire Department that will allow for quicker and easier extrication from an accident, should that be required.
The Fulda Fire Department Reflief Association reviewed angle cutters, and decided to purchase a Holmatro 5050i Evo 3 Cutter.
“The angle cutter is battery operated,” Relief Association member Ryan Baumgartner stated. “The battery will last 15 minutes with continuous use; and about 45 minutes with typical on-the-scene use.”
“The angle of the tool gives us the opportunity to stand at safer angles when we need to cut through a door post, or from the top of a vehicle downward,” Fire Chief David Baumhoefner said.
The tool weighs 47.6 pounds with the battery attached. The cutting pressure is 312,260 pounds of pressure, with a maximum jaw opening of 7.2 inches.
