Continually opening up huge holes and dashing for big rushing yardage, the fast and physical Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots rolled to a commanding 62-8 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda in Nine-Man high school football action at Hills last Friday evening, September 28.
The one-sided victory improved H-BC to 4-1 for the season, while HL-O / F became 2-3. The Coyotes will host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (4-1) at Fulda’s Alex Fisher Field this week (Friday, October 5) for Fulda High School’s Homecoming.
At Hills, the Coyotes pieced together two strong drives — highlighted by long pass plays — but were stymied most of the night by an alert and aggressive H-BC defense, which shutdown HL-O / F’s running game and harassed Coyote sophomore quarterback Eli Fest on numerous passing attempts.
“It was not our best game,” summed up HL-O / F co-head coach Jonathon Curry. “H-BC was way more physical than us and really pushed us around and dominated the line of scrimmage.”
The Patriots finished the game with 561 yards on the ground on 46 carries, averaging 12.2 yards per rush.
