Racing to a huge 41-13 halftime lead, the league-leading Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots earned a 75-34 victory over the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes in a Red Rock Conference high school girls’ basketball game last Friday night (January 31) in Hills.
H-BC improved to 16-1 overall and a perfect 12-0 in the conference, while HL-O/F is currently 3-17 overall and 3-9 in the conference.
“H-BC is a tough matchup because they fill so many key positions on the floor well,” Coyotes head coach Andy Oakland said. “They have good guards and they have good post play. Add into that, they shoot well and play good defense — which makes it hard to get things going yourself, and that was the case in this game.”
Chrissy Hermeling once again scored nine points to lead the way for HL-O/F. Morgan Gehl scored seven points and pulled down four rebounds.
