Thursday, Feb. 4, 1960

Adolph Magnus rites will be held here Thursday afternoon. Mr. Magnus, 68, passed away early Sunday morning, January 31st.

Mrs. Martha Engler passed away January 30th after a bout of pneumonia at the age of 76 years old.

Funeral services were held on February 1st for Leo Fehring who passed away on Friday evening.

The Fulda Civic & Commerce Association has made arrangements with the Fulda Theater to put on a FREE movie for the children  every Saturday during the month of February.

Rexal Simmons was notified that he was one of the top 50 salesmen for the Moorman Mfg. Co. sales force for 1959.

The Sweethearts of Fashion Style show presented by the Home Economics class of the Fulda High School was well attended on Monday. The show was under the direction of Miss Carol Jensen.

Mr. and Mrs. John Harbinson are the parents of a daughter, born January 27th.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Petersen are the parents of a daughter, Nancy, born January 28th. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Petersen are the grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Salentiny are the parents of a daughter, Sandra, born January 29th.

The bloodmobile will be in Fulda on Wednesday, March 2nd.

You often see grown people act like children, but it is rare to see a child act like an adult.

The Fulda FFA Chapter took eight participants to the general livestock judging contest at Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Saturday.

Interstate Power District Manager Del Koopman announced today a “Switch and Save” program which encourages the updating of lighting systems with the latest energy efficient equipment.

Stacy Dierks, a senior at the Fulda High School, will represent Nobles County as the Pork Ambassador for 1990.

State Representative Ted Winter holds Town Meetings to get a better understanding of what issues people are most concerned about in the District.

A monument has been erected in Philadelphia, PA in memory of the Four Chaplains who gave their life jackets up to soldiers and went down with the ship S.S. Dorchester as it sunk after being hit by a German sub on February 3, 1943. Honored on Four Chaplins Sunday are George Foss, Alex Goode, Clark Poling and John Washington.

Ken and Nancy Gustafson are proud to announce the birth of their daughter,
Stacey, born January 18th. Grandparents include Kermith and Elsie Gustafson and Art and Arlene VandenBerg.

Grace Muller passed away on Janaury 24th at the age of 83 years old.

Raymond Kremer passed away suddenly on January 22nd  at the age of 68 years old.

State Representative Ted Winter spends time visiting with area residents prior to his return to St. Paul.

Farm and rural organizations from across the Midwest will gather in Washington D.C. on March 20-21 for the “Rally for Rural America”.

Linus Dardis retired from his postal route position in Fulda after five years of service.

Dave Schwartz has been elected vice chairman of the American Dairy Association of Murray County at the meeting held this week.

Preschool Screening held at the Fulda Elementary School this week.

BPA membes compete in Regional Competition at Granite Falls on January 28th.

The Emil King American Legion Auxiliary Post #318 donated books to the Fulda Elementary School and St. Paul’s School titled “Uncle Sam and Old Glory” and “Book of United States Presidents – A Young Person’s Guide to American History”.

Sheila Crowley, Fulda Free Press employee, was honored by the Minnesota Newspaper Association with two first place awards; one for Photo Story and one for Sports Photography.

John and Helen Aukland celebrate there Golden Anniversary on Valentines Day, February 14th.

Mark Kunerth will marry Alicia Varinaitis at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Sherman Oaks, California on February 5th.

Mary Sauer passed away on January 25th at the age of 60 years old.

Percy Langford passed away on January 27th at the age of 90 years old.

The Fulda Fire Department assisted Slayton on a fire call to the farm place of John Wajer on Tuesday. Lost to the fire were two cars, a tractor and a truck.

The Fulda Fire Department and the Fulda Ambulance responded to two accidents this week; a two-vehicle accident on Monday morning 2 miles north of Fulda on Hwy 59 and an accident which occurred within the city limits on 2nd Street.
