Postal employees are joining others in the region in an accident prevention campaign based on the slogan “Protect Your Spine in ‘59”, state Postmaster Helweg. Most accidents result from slips and falls while delivering mail.
Wilt, The Stilt, Chamberlain, a 7’2” college star, will appear with the Harlem Globe Trotters in Worthington where they will take on the Hawaiian 50th Staters on January 10th. Prior to the Trotter/Staters game, the Texas Cowgirls will meet up with the Worthington National Guard team. Fans are advised to be on time and not miss a minute of the fun!
A deal was recently completed whereby Philip Elskamp bought the former Leebens store building, and has been busy this week moving his shoe store business and supplies to the new location. The Elskamp Shoe Store has been locate the past two years in the old Helweg Store building, owned by John Tuseth.
The Safety Division of the Minnesota Highway Department warns weekend drivers to be on the alert. In a preliminary report on 1958 accidents, 40% of the persons were accidents which happened on weekends; 126 persons on Saturdays and 148 persons on Sundays.

Fulda Game and Fish Club is sponsoring a Rabbit Hunt on January 11th. For safety sake, only shot-guns will be used.

Sachiko Friese came to the United States in 1978 from Japan as an exchanges student with the homestead program with the Peter Hoekman family. Sachiko liked it here so much she stayed and eventually married Rodney Friese; together they had three children.

The Fulda City Council hired Larry Evans as a new police officer.

The City of Fulda installs new banners on the street polls which adorn the words – Welcome to Fulda!
As of Monday, January 11, 1999, the cost of mailing a letter went from 32 to 33 cents.

People think of ice fishing as a hobby but for Jim Larson and his crew it’s a way of life. Jim began is seining business in 1968 and, to date, employs 10 fishermen. The season runs from mid December to late March.
