Thursday, Oct., 18, 1973

Friday morning the Fulda Rescue Squad was called to the Joel Ramerth home where they saved the life of 14 year old Sonya Ramerth. Sonya had become sick and was found choking. The Squad kept her alive until the ambulance arrived from the Murray County Memorial Hospital.

The Eagle Patrol of the Fulda Boy Scout Troop 123 participated in the CROP Hunger Walk held Sunday. Boys walking 12 miles from Slayton to Lake Wilson were Steve McCormick, Doug Miedema, Scott Ohlrich, Bob Howe, Buck Johlfs, Brett Johlfs and Patrol Dad Arlen Ohlrich. Approximately $114.00 was raised.

Filings closed for the Village of Dundee on October 15th with Leo F. Hogan filed for 2-year term as treasurer, Francis Knott filed for 3-year term and Willard Karschnik filed for 2-year term.

The Fulda Area Jaycees received two State Awards; Thor’s Sargeant pin awarded to President Hank Lenards and the Project of the Quarter for their Recruitment Night project. The Chairman of the project was Dwayne Westra.

Notification has been given by Claire W. Jerome, Solid Waste Officer for Murray County of the closing of the Fulda Dump, effective November 1, 1973. Garbage will then be picked up every Thursday at 7:00 a.m. by Albrecht Garbage Service of Windom at a $6.00 per family rate.

A 75th Anniversary Tea was held in honor of the Fulda Reading Club on Saturday at the city hall. This was also the first public showing of a book of poems by Mrs. Downey, a 64 year member, which was recently bound.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Janssen will celebrate their Golden Anniversary on October 21st with an Open House at the First Presbyterian Church.

Chuck and Vi Christensen announce the birth of their grandchild, Heather, on October 11th. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Gary Miller.

A son, Troy, was born on October 9th to Mr. and Mrs. Francis Knott, Jr. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Francis Knott, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horkey.

Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Harms are the parents of a son, Cary born September 27th.

Theresa Leopold passed away October 1, 1973 at the age of 98 years old.

Rev. John Goeken passed away suddenly on October 7th at the age of 75 years old.

Rudolph Jans passed away at the age of 84 on September 2, 1988.

Robert Fenske passed away suddenly at his farm on October 6, 1988 at the age of 56 years old.

Pearl Ommen passed away October 10, 1988 at the age of 95 years old.

The Fulda Reading Club paid homage to Royal Osborne, now deceased, by displaying many of his paintings and drawings at this years Art and Flower Show.
