Village elections will be held this Tuesday, November 1, 1973.

In Avoca, Frank Voss and Marion Lindberg are running for two positions as trustee.

Dundee has three positions open, Mrs. Leo F. Hogan is running for treasurer; Francis Knott for trustee and Willard Karschnik for mayor.

The Village of Fulda has Lucille Gerber and Clifford Suedbeck running for mayor; William Fuerstenberg and Roland Miller are running for Councilman; Jerry Hoff is running against Dale McKenzie for constable.

Dr. Kit will present his hypnotic fantasy on stage at the Fulda High School this Saturday.

The fifth and sixth grades students from Fulda schools have decorated seven main street businesses windows with displays to kick off the Fulda Charity Drive.

The Fulda Legion Hall, Emil King Post 318, has been remodeled and is ready to re-open! Join the rededication of the Legion Hall on Friday, November 9, 1973, 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. followed by a free dance.

The marriage of Mary Lundeen and Steven Magnus was solemnized Saturday at the Long Beach Navy Chapel. The couple plans to make their home in Long Beach, California.

Mary Shea is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Leona Behr is a collector at heart. Whether its salt and pepper shakers, coffee tins, cups and saucers, or 1908 Sears and Roebuck catalogues, Leona loves to collect it.

Dundee Mail Carrier, Art Mathias, retires after 24 years of service. Duane Lyons will take on the job as mail carrier.

Storden-Fulda Milk Producers Voting Unit of Land O’Lakes, Inc. hold annual meeting.

Chief Harris Swan announces Fire Poster winners as Willy Sanow, 1st place, Lisa Lauritsen, 2nd place and Casey Aanenson, 3rd place.

Rhonda Sell  enjoys Halloween as she dresses up as a witch to attend the second grade class as the Fulda Elementary.

Marion Taylor passed away on October 18th at the age of 49 years, 11 months and 20 days old.

Topping the charts in bowling this week was Rhonda Baumgartner as she rolled a 220.

Fulda water rates were raised by $4.10 per month to $11.25 for 20 years at the last council meeting and will take affect as early as December. The current minimum water user charge was $7:15 a month.

Allen Wiese, a representative of the Voter News Service, was on hand as voters left the poles to conduct a survey. The precinct is being used as a ‘Bell Weather’ precinct – a random scientific survey to help pre-determine the outcome of the election.

New Vision Cooperative is undergoing several construction projects – a grain storage building as well as a liquid fertilizer storage tank near Heron Lake;  Reading and Dundee increased capacity with two new grain storage bins at each location; and Jeffers replaced $200,000 worth of bins damaged in a windstorm.

The Veterans’ Day program will be held on November 11th at the Fulda Community/Legion building with speaker Eddie Deutsch, Past 3rd District VFW Commander.

The National FFA Organization today announced that Jason Smith of Iona has been selected as a national finalist for the National FFA Swine Proficiency Award. Smith is one of only four people chosen to compete for this award at the national finals.

The Fulda Food Shelf was replenished once again this past Saturday thanks to the efforts of the Fulda Boy Scouts who canvassed the town for food donations.

Spooktacular Fun was had as 95 ghosts and goblins attended the Halloween Carnival cosponsored by the Fulda Women of Today and Community Ed.

Arlan Swanson was recently recognized as Nursing Home Administrator of the Year.

Seventh graders in Brad Holinka’s Science class enjoyed an exclusion to the edge of the football field as a class experiment last week. The students placed chewed gum inside corn stocks, leaves and bell peppers in a hole and covered with compost. The object was to see if chewing gum is biodegradable.

Shanna McBreen and Chad Stowbridge were married on July 18, 1998 at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Megan and Levi Blanchard, Kyle and Adam Jans, and Aaron and Courtney Tiesler.

Joan Agnes Crowley passed away November 3rd at the age of 74 years old.

Terry and Lori Wynia are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Samantha Jo, on October 22nd. Grandparents include Ron and Bonnie Jacobson and Alfred and Joyce Wynia.

Jay and Pam Clarke are the proud parents of a baby girl, Kendall, born October 29th. Grandparents include Orrin and Marilyn Clarke and Jim and Barb Olsem.
