The Raiders played one of the most exciting games of the season only to end in a tie in the big Homecoming game. In the battling against Westbrook, final score 0 to 0, both Don Zemler and Curt Sell are credited with fumble recoveries.
Homecoming Royalty were crowned – Suzanne Gilbertson and Dan Busch reigned over the week. The Junior Class again won the 1st place prize in the float contest.
Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jensen are the parents of a daughter, Denise, born August 30th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chapa.
A baby daughter, Lisa, was born on September 29th to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nelson. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gunderman.
Featured in Future Fulda Citizens this week are Pamela and Kevin Kleve, Peggy and Kenneth Stock, and Keith and Breda Mix.
J. W. Jones passed away quietly at his home on September 27th at the age of 87 years old.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hakeneis to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a dinner at the Corral followed by an afternoon reception on October 1st.

Teresa (Finke) and Clarence Fuerstenberg, share memories of Fulda; after farming for a quarter of a century in the St. Kilian area, the couple purchased the Fulda Theatre, and the rest is history.
Homecoming week festivities enjoyed by students and teachers at the Fulda High School.
The Fulda water line project looping water mains was stopped last week because of the same oil spill that threatened the lake in March of 1986. The water line project will continue but a different route will be used.
The dry, windy conditions this fall have left the firefighters battling a number of fires this week; a combine fire at Dennis Dierks farm, a grass fire between the Bryan Lund farm and the Orrin Clarke farm, a combine fire at the Roland Buschena farm, a smoldering fire in a hog house on the Tom Klein farm, and a combine at the Walt Janssen farm. Marilyn Clarke credits the fire departments quick response with saving their corn field. This week is Fire Prevention week. Say thank you to your local firemen!
Harry Behr is Maple Lawn Nursing Home’s resident of the month.
Kristi Stewart and Timothy Holinka were united in marriage on August 29th at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda. The couple will both be employed in Winter Park, Colorado.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Quam welcome a baby boy, Joel, born October 3rd. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Hofmann and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Quam.
Elray and Julie Blau are the proud parents of a baby girl, Lacy, born September 28th. Grandparents are Herb and Betty Baumgard and Fred and Nancy Blau.

Tech. Sgt. Whitney Wildfeuer, a 1975 graduate of the Fulda High School, is currently stationed on Guam serving as an Airmen.
The weather has been very cooperative this week leaving farmers very busy as they begin fall harvest.
Two combine related fires were reported on Monday, September 29th; the Fulda Fire Department responded to Gary Johnson’s field south of Fulda while the Slayton Fire Department answered the call to Marshall Isder’s field near Avoca. Damage to the combines and fields is unknown at this time.
The Big Slough Restoration Project Partners Appreciation Ceremony was held on Thursday. Doug Lipetski, Regional Engineer for Ducks Unlimited was on hand to answer questions concerning the water level control structure.
Citizens of Tomorrow include Dylan and Austin Welling; Nicole and Mandy Gunderman; and Jordan and Shelby Steiner.
James and Brenda Hansen announce the birth of a son, Zachary, born September 20th. Grandparents include Roger and Violet Hansen and Donald and Delores Welling.
Jim and Lynn Sinclair are the parents of a son, Isaac, born September 19th. Grandparents include Archie and JoAnn Sinclair and Paul and Betty Olsem.
Elsie McReynolds passed away on September 26th at the age of 91 years old.
Leona Ramerth passed away on September 27th at the age of 90 years old.
