Thursday, Dec. 10, 1959

Only 76 votes were cast at the village election on Tuesday with A. H. Wordelman receiving 71 to become the new Village Mayor.

Red roses and white streamers decorated the pews of the Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Church of Fulda for the marriage of Lalahna Uhlken and Douglas Bultman on Sunday, December 6th.

A Civil Defense training course will be held in various areas throughout the State  beginning in January.

Fred Isders were feted Thursday evening in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary by relatives and friends.

Rites held on Monday afternoon for Henry J. Ommen who passed away after a lingering illness of several months at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 8 days. Mr. Ommen passed away on December 4th.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sandhurst are the parents of a son born December 3rd.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Claus are the parents of a daughter, JoAnn born November 30th. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Meier.

Mr. and Mrs. John Jans are the parents of a son, Timothy born December 7th.

Plans made for a pond at the Talcot Lake Campground on an undeveloped piece of ground approximately 3.5 acres in size. The pond would provide habitat for wildlife as well as fishing potential once stocked with fish. A camping area will be developed as well.

Roger Koopman was selected to participate in the National Young Leaders Conference at Washington D.C. last week where he was introduced to many aspects of government.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Andiah Blanchette, Brittany Thedans, and Adam Leinen.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles are Susan Welling, Dennis Fuchs, and Blanca Boom.

Competing in the District 11 FFA meet were Dallas Bergh, Jason Crowley, and Kevin Trierweiler and Joleen Weiner. Dallas Bergh placed first for the second year in a row in public speaking.

Cynthia Wingert and Walter Larson exchanged marriage vows October 6th at St. Chalres Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles, MN.

Bobbi Jo Swenson and Larry Gunnink engagement announced. A June wedding is planned.

Julia Beckman passed away at the age of 87 years old on December 8th.

Frank Voss passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 2nd at the age of 84 years old.

Barend Vonk passed away at the age of 37 years old. Funeral services held November 29, 1989.

Joining Jerry and Elden in providing service at Ramerth Ag Service, Inc. are Curt Ramerth and Jerry Hulstein.

The Fulda Elementary School Kindergartners presented “The Candy Cane Kid” for their parents and grandparents.

Family and Consumer Science/Foods class takes on baking entrepreneurship as their service project. According to Marcine Elder, instructor, the students are making over 250 dozen cookies and candies to be delivered before Christmas.

Ed and Wilma Schaffer are doing their part to ‘brighten the countryside’. They have taken on the task of decorating the bridge located just south of Highway 62 between sections 35 and 36 for the holiday season. The bridge will be light up all night long through Christmas for all to enjoy.

‘A Christmas Carol’ was presented by the Hampstead Players to the delight of many Fulda area children who attended.

Sheila Crowley’s love of music has prompted her to hold an Annual Christmas Caroling evening – for 15 years  she has gathered her friends and family to spread some Holiday Cheer.

New Vision Cooperative held it first annual meeting with an estimated crowd of 400 in attendance.
