Rural resident, Larry Green found himself stranded in a snowbank on Nobles County 18 on Thursday afternoon. Even though a farm place was not far off, Green couldn’t attempt to walk or shovel himself out because of a recent heart surgery. Making the best of the situation, Green tore the seat cover and foam cushion apart to construct a makeshift sleeping bag and tent. He was able to stay warm with the heat of the pickup until 10 p.m. Thursday when he ran out of gas. He continued to listen to the radio and exercise his body throughout Friday and into Saturday. Ironically, Green’s wife, Diane, could not report Larry missing as the phone lines were down near their home. Sometime on Saturday morning a snowplow found Larry and took him to Highway 59 where they were met by an ambulance. Green was treated for frozen toes.
