An early Tuesday morning fire destroyed the Fulda home owned by Fred W. Fokers of Sibley, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Timmer were renting it at the time of the fire which is thought to have started in the walls of the home possibly being electrical. The Timmers and their three boys escaped without injury.

The Citizens Committee for an Adequate Murray County Courthouse today released additional details on construction and appearance of the proposed new courthouse building. The Courthouse Bond Issue vote is set for April 4th.

Teachers Dump Students! The school faculty, behind the high scoring Mr. Christensen, defeated the FHS seniors on Monday night with a score of 70-52. Christiansen, who scored 28 points in the game more than doubled any other player on the court. A fun time was had be all.

Former Fulda student Jim Drealan, who towers 6’3”, is a senior guard for the University of Minnesota Morris basketball team. Jim has scored 1,016 points in 92 UMM games over a four year period and holds the UMM free throw shooting record for a season with .822% in 1964-65.

Suzanne Gilbertson was named as the American Legion Auxiliary Girls Stater.

Kathleen Brady and Roger Lien announce engagement. A May wedding is planned.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chris F. Behr who passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 5th will be held on Thursday, March 9th at Immanuel American Lutheran Church of Pfingsten.

Adolph Schade passed away on February 2 at the age of 76 years old.

Mrs. Henry Hennings, 81, passed away on Sunday, February 26th.

Mrs. Ewald Miller, 51, passed away February 20th after a lingering illness.

Ray Reker retired from his U. S. Postal Service position on February 27th. Ray began delivering mail in 1952 as a substitute rural carrier.

Preschool screening will be held on March 27th.

Kindergarten roundup to be held March 20th.

Lydia Hanson has finished her testing for her Graduate Equivalency Diploma which allows her to receive a high school diploma.

Superintendent Paul J. Wandersee and Fulda School Board members Shirley Buschena, Voris Spittle, Richard Lanners and Kenneth Honius attended the fifth annual School Board member Day at the Capitol on March 3rd.

Fulda Community Theatre to present “Tender Lies” with the part of Sheila being played by Mary Winter and Arlo being played by Earl Halverson.

Dennis and Kelli Janke are proud to announce the arrival of a daughter, Christina, born March 1st.  Grandparents include Robert and Betty Shea and Joan Janke.

Lori Isder and Brad Oeltjenbruns announce engagement. A May wedding is planned.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Kenneth and Oliver King; Liza and Scott Knorr and Candice and Sherry Sell.

Dorothy W. Isder passed away at the age of 85 years old on February 13th.

Margaret Stuckey passed away on March 4th at the age of 88 years old.

Sixth grade students at Fulda Elementary School learn the art of ceramics with the help of Gen Stewart.

Local resident, Marguerite Cosgriff turned 100 years old on January 12th of this year. Marguerite resides at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

The City of Fulda welcomes two new police officers to their force; Jim Minion and Jeff LaCanne. They will fill the positions formerly held by Mike Swanson and Eric Leander.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Wendy Koch, Justin Ahlers, and Jessica Hogan.
