People on the go are finding public phones in the most unexpected places thanks to Northwestern Bell’s program of making handy phones available wherever you may be. Keeping in touch is an important part of everyone’s life.
Swimming lessons to start Monday at 8:00 a.m. with nearly 100 students enrolled. The morning lessons will be taught by Tom Kremer and Ron Kellen and the afternoon instructors are Jane Clark and Deb Fisher. There will be lifeguards on duty at this time but a portion of the swimming area will be blocked off from 1 to 2 p.m. for lesson.
Three local boys earned a trip to Minneapolis; Steve Herhard, Daniel Uttech and Terry Pekas will be enjoying the Ski-O-Rama outing beginning on June 19th. The boys are all carriers for the Minneapolis Tribune and the Minneapolis Star newspapers. The boys will enjoy skiing, speedboating, houseboating and swimming, as well as have the opportunity to stay in a motel in downtown Minneapolis.

Julius J. Clausen passed away at the age of 97 years old.
A. O. Amundson, whose sudden death was the result a heart attack, passed away on Thursday evening. Amur was 67 years old.

The Fulda Wood Duck Festival was a great success with nice weather, nice crowds and fun for all.
The funding for the water and sewer project for the city of Fulda is not available at this time. City Council members discussed doing segments of the project as money is available.
Ron Kellen and Syd Halverson will head a committee on a building expansion for city hall, juggling space for the fire department, ambulance, library and city clerk.
Les Beeck officially handed in his resignation from the city crew effective June 30th.
LeRoy UhlenKamp has accepted a position as Ag Instructor and the Fulda High School.
The V. F. W. presented a Flag Day ceremony at the Fulda City Hall on June 14th.
Dayna Bultman and Michael Dunteman announce their engagement. An August wedding is planned.
Mr. and Mrs, Pat Pechacek (former Janice Eshleman) are the adopted parents of six week old Jeffrey who was born April 30th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Eshleman of Fulda.
Dr. David and Thelma Balt are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Aidan born May 24th. Grandparents are Ed and Ann Balt and Phyliss Ridgeway.
The City of Slayton, MN is celebrating their Centennial on June 19, 20, 21, 1987.
Richard Clayton and Henrietta Fick Clayton celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house on June 28th.
Carl Carlson passed away on June 7th at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 5 days old.

Summer fun was enjoyed on the lake by Jim Malters who gave his cousins, Ann and Grant Hayward their first ever ride in a canoe this weekend.
Andy Witzel found a rare softshell turtle at Talcott Lake. The turtle is a spiny species usually found in Canada.
The Corral Supper Club will hold it’s grand opening this week under the new ownership of Linda and George Bolton.
Fulda Community Choir to present a contata entitled “Make Us One” during the Wood Duck Festival.
Mya Olsem, a third grader at Fulda Elementary School, participated in a state-wide Father’s Day essay contest during the school year and was selected as one of 10 finalist.
