Thursday, June 22, 1967

The garden planted by Emil Sell and Delly Koopman was torn up early Tuesday morning leaving nothing left to harvest but a row of potatoes and a sign that read “You’re damn lucky we left you this much.” The vandalism is under investigation.

Curtis Schipper and Sharon Schipper were involved in an accident on Tuesday when the motorcycle they were riding became involved with a car. Curtis suffered a broken leg while Sharon had a heel injury.

Mrs. Lydia Gunderman Schmidt passed away with funeral services being held in Moorhead on Thursday.

The White Diamond Bowman of Fulda held an Archery Shoot this past weekend.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn this month are Mary Leonards, Anna Haberman and Ralph Wordon.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Noding and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Lansman have returned from a fishing trip to Missouri River in South Dakota with 22 fine fish.

Baskets of red and white carnations and lighted candelabra at the altar of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington provided the setting on June 9th for the marriage of Paulette Brust and Roger McHarg.

The marriage of Miss Colleen McDonald and Mr. Doyle Gertjejansen was solemnized at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Slayton on June 10th.

Thursday, June 25, 1987

Les Beeck retires after 26 years working for the City of Fulda. A number of leisurely days of fishing are on the top of the list for days to come.

The new city sewer line project has been in progress for several weeks with Gass Trenching boring a hole under Highway 62 to accommodate the 12” sewer line. Another hole will be bored under Highway 59.

The Fulda Pier was installed on the north end of Seven Mile Lake on Monday and Tuesday. The handicap accessible pier was provided and installed through a grant from the Department of Natural Resources.

Elizabeth Hogan was honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

School Board discusses open enrollment.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn are Liz Hogan, Merna Beckman, Ruth Crowley, Dorothy Goins, Ted VanDen Bosch and Elizabeth Kremer.

Barb and J. D. Folger are proud to announce the birth of a son born June 12th. Grandparents are Marv and Pat Kunze and George and June Bollem.

Stephen Evers passed away on June 17th at the age of 18 after being involved in a motorcycle accident.

Fulda holds program to honor Flag Day – the Star Spangled Banner celebrated its 120th anniversary on Saturday.

1997 Wood Duck Festival to take place this weekend.

The city council adopted an outdoor water ban starting immediately for Fulda. Residents are asked to water only on assigned days. This will ease the number of pumping hours. The council also approved a plan to replace 14 catch basins around the city.

Good Times Bar & Grill (formerly known as Classics) is under new management. Troy Reed of Round Lake has taken over the restaurant in hopes of fulling his lifelong dream.

Bertha Wulf, ‘1997 Queen of the Northland’, is returning to her hometown of Fulda to take part in the Wood Duck Festival parade. This will make Wulf’s 43 appearance so far during her reign as Queen.

Jocile Kirchner and David Nagler announce their engagement. An August wedding is planned.

Jennifer Koopman and Don Tiesler announce their engagement. A July wedding is planned.

Debra Wolf and John Bluck announce their engagement. An August wedding is planned.

Duane and Phyllis Steinman celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Fulda Wood Duck Festival theme ‘Just Clowning Around’ set for June 20, 21, and 22. Fulda Jokers will be honored as Grand Marshals. The originally Jokers were Larry Van Grootheest, Mark Knorr and the late Brian Hulstein. Leading this year’s parade with Larry and Mark are new members, Dan Bierma and Brent Miller. The car they ride in will have a sign in honor of Hulstein on the side in his memory.

The 1997 Wood Duck Festival will celebrate it’s 10th anniversary this year as well.
