Clif Mansmith, former owner of the local Red Owl Food Store, is back in the business after being out of the business for a mere 20 months. You can find Clif behind the meat counter at the store he sold to Jim here in town.
The past week was very busy for the Fulda Lions Club members as they went throughout town drilling holes and cementing in the new street marking poles. The caps with the street names will be installed soon as will individual house numbers.
Mr. and Mrs. William Schnepf are the parents of a girl born August 10th. Mrs. Margaret Holinka is the maternal grandmother.
Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Clarke are the parents of a son, Tony born Wednesday at the Murray County Memorial Hospital.
Sunday evening vandals were at work in Fulda as they took paint to the water tower. Initials and obscene language in white paint have been removed. The incident is under investigation.
Mrs. Charles Hendricks passed away on Tuesday morning, August 22nd.
Jane Botten and Douglas Kuehl are engaged to be married. An October wedding is planned.
Shirley Michelau and Roger Leebens announce their engagement. No definite wedding date has been set.

Chairperson Shirley Bushena broke the tie, voting in favor of hiring a full time first grade teacher.
Fulda FFA once again has a nice looking 10 acre test plot on the Joe Breen farm site.
Phil Cowan paints a mural on the wall in the history room at the Fulda High School to honor the signing of the Constitution.
Lori Halbur and Jeff Knutson exchanged nuptial bows on June 27th at St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona.
Nobles County Fair 4-H members featured with awards.
Sumner Clarke passed away August 19, 1987 at the age 102 years old.
Cecilia Eichler passed away August 15, 1987 at the age of 90 years old.

Bill Fuerstenberg and Agnes Bockenstedt, two former Fulda Ambulance volunteers, were recently recognized by the Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board with a longevity award for their years of service to Fulda area.
Melba Carney and William Cuperus were named Murray County Outstanding Senior Citizens for 1997.
The Fulda City Council discussed the budget, water issues and ‘City of Fulda’ signs on Hwy 59.
‘Kid’s Week’ began with a bike rodeo hosted by the Fulda Women of Today.
Vicki Krueger and Mark Hakeneis announce their engagement. A December 26th wedding is planned.
Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home are Jerome Bruns, Ervin Nath, Viva Handy and Bertha Bottin. The residents enjoyed Eddie Reusse playing his accordion as everyone sang along.
Citizens of Tomorrow include Kyle and Adam Jans; Max and Madison Dibble; and Joshua and Sierra Stadler.
Fulda children joined the Boji Bantam Theatre performers in presenting a special play entitled ‘I Didn’t Know That’.
