John Hyslop received a pin for 50 years of service with the Masons on Tuesday evening.
Ben Schipper and Peter Boomgarden first arrived in Fulda 50 years ago from Emben, Germany traveling on the steam ship York. Today, Peter is farming in rural Fulda and Ben is celebrating 35 years in the Mobil Bulk Oil business.

Margaret Vortherms and Mark Schmidt were married April 14th at St. Gabriel’s Church in Fulda. The couple plan to make their home in Mankato, MN.
The marriage of Carol Ykema and Jerome Dierks was solemnized on March 31st at the Chapel of the Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota. The couple plans to make the Sioux Falls area their home.
Funeral services were held for Arthur Johnson on April 14th. Mr. Johnson was 75 years old.

Fulda school volunteers recognized with coffee hour for all they do behind the scenes at the schools.
The Dundee clowns entertained at St. Paul’s Lutheran School last Tuesday. Mary Schipper demonstrated the technique of applying clown makeup.
Dana Dirksen hands over her position as State Public Relations Officer for the FHA (Future Homemakers of America) this week. Throughout the year Dana published three state FHA newspapers, put together the state FHA calendar and coordinated the pep squad.
Elvira Probst resigns as Fulda High School Secretary.
Sheila McConkey, Lynn Olsem, and JoLynn Kunerth are heading to State Speech competition to be held Friday.
Valerie Storm and Alan Ruesch announce their engagement. An august 20th wedding date has been set.
Reuben Bergman, 67, passed away on April 18th after a long illness.

The Fulda City Council voted to increase the water rates. The base rate was increased by $.33 to $4.00 and the gallons over base rate was raised $.15 per thousand gallons to $1.95.
As early as Friday Fulda residents would see the signs of construction taking place as the St. Paul Avenue project begins.
The Wood Duck committee has set the festival theme as ‘Under Construction’. The festival will take place June 26, 27, and 28.
Planting season has begun as farmers take advantage of the beautiful weather to put crops in the ground.
Kacee Pals has been chosen as Miss Fulda 1998. Fulda’s Royal Court consists of Bridget Sieve – Princess, Angela Stewart – Princess, Christine Wieskus – Little Miss Fulda, and Brianna Kruse – Little Miss Fulda.
The Fulda School Board spent time discussing summer school as one way to maintain the skills achieved during the school year and prevent children from regressing.

RoseMary has enlisted the talents of Diane Zemler to enhance the memories with a hand-painted picture which depicts a farm scene complete with a John Deer tractor and a rainbow in the background.
