Tornado sweeps through area leaving wreckage in its path on Sunday. While the City of Fulda was very lucky as two tornados were spotted just outside city limits, others were not. Rich Hindt lost several bins and a shed to the twin twisters, Joe Kirchner had a 6×6 piece of wood through his front porch, the Chuck Hoffman home lost top floor, and a truck at the Tony Paulzine home was lifted up and set back down in the path of a falling tree just to name a few.  The damage was extensive in areas leaving behind mangled bins and buildings, and even overturned semis.

Golf ball size hail stones littered streets and yards in Avoca knocking out windows in homes and automobiles.

Tornados also hit the cities of Comfrey and St. Peter.

Jerry, Deb and Angie Langford, on their way home from the cities, experienced the St. Peter storm first hand – “We noticed the storm coming in,” says Deb. “It was up on the hill by the college. The sky was black and blue.”

Fulda’s Interstate Power crew was called to assist the City of Comfrey who lost an entire 69 thousand volt line. It will take 25 65’ long poles to get them back up, according to  Mary Ann Boom. “The thing is,” says Boom. “There is nothing left there. We are not sure if we have any customers left there to service.”
