Wilmer Kopischke has sold his Mobile Gas Station to Harold Erickson after operating the business for 5 years.

Rain! Rain! Rain! More rain here Monday morning and continuing until noon again delayed corn planting for many area farmers.

Due to a lack of cooperation between students and their parents, the After Prom activities sponsored by the V.F.W. will be discontinued after six successful years.

The children of St. Gabriel School gathered for the procession, led by Cross Bearer Randy Kremer, to the statue of Our Blessed Mother which was crowned by John Utz to acknowledged Mary’s Queenship over heaven and earth. The Crown Bearer was Judith Kirchner and the Knights of the Altar were Wayne Drealan and Jerome Mironowski.

The Fulda Giants will open their First Night League next Sunday evening when they travel to Pipestone to battle the Indians, last year’s champions.

Services will be held Friday morning for Mrs. J. J. Durnan who passed away early Tuesday morning. Mrs. Durnan would have been 83 years old on Friday.

Adolph King rites held at Fulda on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. King passed away on Saturday, May 14th.

In a setting of mixed flowers and candle light, Miss Ione Baden became the bride of Gary Khehl on May 15th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Maple Lawn will observe a ground breaking ceremony on May 20th for the chapel addition and the four double room addition on the “B” wing.

JoAnn Biren shares the third in a series on the hey-day of baseball in the 1950s.

Anita Miller has been selected as 1990 Miss Fulda. Elyse Gunderman and Deb Beckmann will serve as Princesses,  and Tera Kuiper is Little Miss Fulda.

Frank and Tess Halbur  share the story behind their success on the Halbur farm located southwest of Iona.

A break-in at Ommen’s Mini Mart on Highway 59 is under investigation. The robbery was confined to the laundry room where fifty dollars in change was taken from machines. The incident happened on May 13th with similar break-ins reported in Tracy and Lincoln counties.

Fulda Post Office held an open house on May 8th with over 240 area residents receiving a tour of the facility.

Sara Laubach and Gary Olsem are congratulated by Vic Miller on winning the Senior Citizens 6th grade essay contest.

The Raiders boys track team qualified for the True Team State Meet to be held in St. Cloud on May 19th. Seniors Ed Wenzel and Chad Carroll were double winners for
Fulda. Wenzel won the 110 high hurdles and the 300 intermediate hurdles and Carroll won the 800 meter run and anchored the winning 1600 meter relay team running with Kris  Clausen, Randy Appel and Chad Michelau.

Kyle and Barb Wildfeuer are proud to announce the birth of their son, Kody born May 9th. Grandparents are Arvid and Clarice Wildfeuer and Andy and Marlys Engelkes.

Bardene Sowards and Edward Peter were united in marriage on Saturday, April 14th at the United Methodist Church in Huron, SD.

Pernice Kellen passed away May 11th at the age of 72 years old.

Fulda High School Principal Scott Monson tendered his resignation to the Board of Education on Tuesday evening.

Fulda Junior/Senior Prom held under the theme “The time of your life…”

Memorial Day will be observed in Fulda on May 29 beginning with a parade and ending with a program.

Preschool graduation held at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. Teacher Mrs. Janis Heintz led the students in songs, abc’s and finger play.

Members of Ms. Wilde’s sixth grade class were busy this week preparing their history exhibits for display at the Minnesota Historical Society Museum on May 21st.

Fulda Girl Scouts assisted the Fulda American Legion Auxiliary Post #318 in selling poppies last Friday.

Blake Freking, a former Heron Lake student, participated in  the 1300 mile trek across Alaska known as the Iditarod.

The fifth grade students of Mrs. Crowley and Mrs. DenHartog held a Wax Museum portraying many historical figures such as Betsy Ross and Pocahontas.

Winners of the Grandparents Day essay sponsored by the Fulda Senior Center were Curtis Lingle, Nick Henning, Sara Opdahl and Nicole Gunderman. Walter Janssen congratulated the winners.

Spring Choir Concert held with Dustin Kremer receiving the National Choral Award and Jordan VanOort receiving the Directors Award.

Melissa Clark and Jeremy Hove announce their engagement. A June 10th wedding is planned.

Karin Peterson and Jeremy Braun announce their engagement. A July wedding is planned.

Robert Prahm and Joyce Carson announce their engagement. The couple plans a July wedding.

Dave and Lisa Spies are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Brandi, born April 27th. Grandparents include Pat and Cees Fury and Allen and Karen Spies.

Irving Linson passed away on May 7th at the age of 87 years old.

Ethel Reese passed away on May 8th at the age of 88 years and 20 days.

Doris Clauson passed away May 9th at the age of 82 years old.

Rimer Isder passed away unexpectedly at the age of 76 years old on May 14th.
