An open house will be held on Saturday at the Fulda Free Press newly remodeled office located at 204 St. Paul Ave. Join us for coffee and doughnuts and subscribe to the Fulda Free Press at a reduced price. Look for your sample copies of the Free Press which are going out in the mail this week.

Rites were held for the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Sell at their home on Wednesday. William Walter Sr. was born in Westbrook on Christmas day and was four and a half months old. He passed away on Sunday from pneumonia.

Leonard Mensen rites held in St. Kilian, he passed away on Thursday in his sleep after suffering a stroke on Tuesday. Mr. Mensen was 51 years old.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Heinrichs who recently purchased the old Liquor Store building from Dr. J. H. Meyer, plan on moving next week from the Elting building and will have their grand opening on May 29th of their new Linoleum and Wall Covering Store.

Governor Freeman signed an amendment to M.S. 171.06, Subd. 2, which raised the cost of a drivers license from $1.00 to $3.00.

Also recently changed was Chapter 255 which states three parts; it is unlawful for a person to drink or consume intoxicating liquors when driving a motor vehicle on public highways; it is unlawful to have an open bottle or receptacle of any kind within a private motor vehicle upon public highways; and it is unlawful to keep a bottle or receptacle in any portion of the car except the trunk – not in the utility or glove compartment or anywhere near the driver or the passenger.

Teresa Kass was crowned Miss Fulda with her Royal Court consisting of Little Miss Fulda Vicki Bestge, Princess Kristie Probst, and Princess Teresa Brockway.

Clarene Schmalz was signed in as new Postmaster of Dundee on Friday morning.

Mary Ahlers resigns her position as  Elementary Cook.

Jason Larsen is working on replacing the flags flown by the City of Fulda as his Eagle Scout Project. “You have to choose a project that will do the community some good,” states Larsen. “The flags were tattered and needed replacing.”

Robert Wilde presented a bronze sculptor workshop at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Stephanie Zemler passed away at the age of 85 years old on May 13th.

Glenn and Sheila Crowley are proud to announce the arrival of their daughter, Brianna born May 19th. Grandparents are Leo and Dolores Crowley and Burdell and Kaleen Christians.

Dr. David and Thelma Balt are the proud parents of a son, Joshua, born May 22nd. Grandparents are Ed and Ann Balt and Phyllis Ridgeway.

Tom Webb recalls the USS Storm King and his time as  a member of the Navy Scouts and Raiders (Underwater Demolition Team).

Memorial Day Service scheduled at the Fulda High School following the parade.

Nicole Ommen was named Miss Fulda 1999. She is joined by Little Princess Mari Holinka and Little Miss Fulda Amanda Bierma.

‘Sowing Seeds of Advocacy – Raising the voice of concern in rural communities’ meeting was held with speakers Ted Winters and Charlie Hopkins and was organized by the Fulda Area Ministerial Alliance. The gathering brought together the social, economic and spiritual aspects of life in rural America.

Principal Dale Kirsch retires after 12 years with the Fulda Schools.

Shirley Sturm reminisces on 33 years of teaching at the Fulda High School as she retires to spend time with her grandchildren.

‘Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.’ presented by Fulda school students.

FFA Star Farmer Award went to Chris Ahlers, Star Ag/Bus to Noah Johnson, and Star Green Hand to Cory Reith.

Kasey Aanenson caps a tremendous collegiate golf season with 7th place finish at the National meet.

Gerald Wynia passed away on May 19th at the age of 66 years old.

Darlene Ghaffari passed away at the age of 67 years old on May 19th.
