Mrs. Dora Behr was feted on her 88th birthday on Sunday by family and friends.

A softball league will be added to the Summer Recreation program this year and will be open to all men over the age of 18.

Swimming instructions will be given at the Fulda beach by instructors Gary Wordelman and Mike Fisher.

Judy Busch, 1959 Minnesota High School Rodeo Queen, led the grand entry of the new queen candidates at the 1960 contest.

The marriage of Miss Cynthia Prahm and Mr. Darrell Kleve was solemnized  at the First Presbyterian Church on June 18th with the Rev. Paul Holland officiating.

June 25th the Boy Scouts of Troop 123 will collect papers throughout town. Please have magazines and newspapers tied in bundles and placed on the curb. The Scouts are raising money for summer camp at Shetek in July.

The ladies of First Presbyterian Church will hold their second annual Garden Show and Flower Festival on July 20th.

Congressman H. Carl Anderson advises that designations will be available to the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy at Annapolis and the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Minnesota tied with Massachusetts for third place in the 21st annual Pedestrian Safety Program sponsored by the American Automobile Association. Placing first was Connecticut and second went to Colorado.

Girls Scouts learned skills like potato peeling, fire starting, and cooking to earn their camping badge while at Day Camp at Seven Mile Park this past week.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation at Windom will again permit persons to harvest hay from the Interstate 90 right-of-way in Rock, Nobles, Jackson, and Martin Counties.

The 1990 Fulda Wood Duck Festival will be held on July 13,14, and 15 with events for everyone to enjoy.

Perry Kuehl has achieved Black Belt Heavyweight Karate Championship on June 10th in Albert Lea.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home this month are Jennie DeYonge, Merna Beckman, Ted VandenBosch and Amy Vogt.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Salentiny will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house on June 24th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dundee.

Sandy Engelkes and Scott Grothe were married April 30th at Las Vegas Nevada in the Riviera Royal Chapel.

Clara Kraus passed away at the age of 95 years old on June 13th.

Minnie Vehlow passed away on June 10th at the age of 81 years old.

Everette Behr passed away June 13th at the age of 57 years, 5 months, and 27 days.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School is undergoing a number of energy efficient measures such as new windows, lowered ceilings, and more efficient lighting. The repairs are being made thanks to a Federal Energy Grant received by the school.

Phil and Lois Elskamp were selected to be Grand Marshall of the 2000 Fulda Wood Duck parade on Saturday evening. The Elskamps have been local business owners in Fulda since 1958. Phil’s father opened Elskamps Shoe Repair in 1919.

The Fulda City Council approved a roller blade/skate board park to be put on a portion of the tennis court in the Fulda City Park.

Chris Hawkinson and Dustin Runkle recently participated in a mileage challenge with a car that was built in an FFA class at school. 

Jr. and Betty Czepa, along with their daughters, Laurel and Lisa, and Maxine Pollak, recently ventured to Germany to visit their son, Cory who is living in
Essen while playing football for the American Federation League. Cory graduated from Fulda High School in 1994 and spent four years at Mankato State University achieving a degree as a trainer. Cory received a call from a coach which led to a career with the Assindia Cardinals (AFL).

Sue Gunderman is now licensed to sell real estate for Aanenson Auction and Realty Company.

Construction has finished and the New Vision Cooperative, Dundee elevator is open for business. The facility now has a 10,000 bushel per hour leg to provide better service. The new storage bins can hold approximately 230,000 bushels of grain.

Helen and Richard Beltz to observe 50th wedding anniversary.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home are Minnie Ranum, Faye Sauder, Alice Roby, Herman Abramson, Ed Smith and Bob Herrman.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Emily, Justin and Nathan Bakke; Alicia, Tammy and Todd Peterson; Sarah, Smantha, and Sabrina Raddle.

Rick and Gwen Holinka are the proud parents of Marissa, born on June 18th. Grandparents include LeRoy and Marilyn Hawley and Edward and RoseMary Holinka Schweigert.

Brent and Beverly Davis announce the arrival of Sarah born June 12th. Grandparents include Harlan and Norma Boda and Dave and Marsha Davis.
