Thursday, June 18, 1959

Little John Sauer, 2-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sauer, Jr. has spent several days in the hospital after suffering head, chest, back and stomach injuries in a farming mishap. He is reported in good condition.

The Dundee Municipal Liquor Store was robbed for the second time in two weeks. About seventy dollars in cash and two hundred dollars worth of liquor and cigarettes were stolen. The thieves gained entrance through the door.

Marilyn Ruesch tours Europe with Wartburg College.

Margaret Lowe and John Koopman were married at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Slayton on June 13th.

Mr. and Mrs. Dorance Kuehl are the parents of a daughter, born Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fuchs are the parents of a son born Tuesday.

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Toussaint on Tuesday.

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Cy Morley on Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Duane Giffin, former Fulda residents, are the proud parents of a baby girl, Shelly, born June 6th.

Star City Program representatives Harry Rosefelt and David Nelson were here on Tuesday to decide if the City of Fulda meets the criteria of becoming a Star City.

Maple Lawn Nursing Home celebrates 25 years in the Fulda Community with the annual family pot-luck.

Merna Lund, Lois Behr and Mona Kaiser will celebrate their Silver Anniversaries right along with Maple Lawn’s anniversary. Each have worked there since day one; Lund and Kaiser as LPNs and Behr in house keeping.

The Fulda Fire Department purchased a new tanker this last week which holds 1650 gallons of water according to Chief Harris Swan. Each year the Fulda Fire Department puts money into a truck fund which allows them to purchase new equipment without asking the citizens of Fulda to chip in.

Al and Colleen Bestge are proud to announce the arrival of their daughter, Maria on June 18th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arlis Hein, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schindler and Mrs. Deddo Bestge.

Dale West passed away suddenly on June 14th at the age of 52 years old.

A. H. (Shorty) Nemmers passed away recently at the age of 84 years old.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home this month are Elizabeth Hogan, Evelyn Cuperus, Merna Beckman, Ted VandenBosch, and Margaret Goedtke.

‘Nu-2-U’ thirft store has something for everyone. Owned and operated by Donna Paplow and Kristi Boji, the store is located on Fulda’s main street.

The City of Fulda will be selling the two lots where the old Locker Plant and Farm Store were located. Signs will be posted.

New firefighters for the Fulda community are Doug Canfield, Don Welling and Jeff Gunderman.

Mr. Scott Loeslie, current Dean of Students/Elementary Principal officially announced his resignation.

Susanna Sollinger is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Diana Grandgeorge is named Relay for Life Honorary Chair for Murray County.

Thirteen Fulda kids have the opportunity to advance on to compete in the Hershey Track Meet in St. Paul on July 10th.

The 80th annual Women’s International Bowling Congress Championship Tournament took place recently. Earning the championship status for division 3 team event was the tem of Behr Enterprise. Team members include Mardella Olson, Avoca, Captain Wanda Behr, Fulda, Bev Busswitz, Westbrook, Mary An Erickson, Currie and Mary Peters, Westbrook. There were 1,097 teams entered in the Division 3 (non- handicap) Tournament.

Orrin and Marilyn Clarke observe 50th wedding anniversary with an open house held on Saturday.

Ella Bestge will celebrate her birthday with an open house at Mapleview Estates on June 27th.

Margaret Voit to celebrate her 90th birthday on June 27th.

Arnold Lober passed away on April 20, 1999 at the age of 89 years old.

Leo Hogan passed away on June 14, 1999 at the age of 75 years old.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Brewster will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary on Sunday, June 27th.
