Gopher League playoffs to start tonight with Fulda meeting Woodstock, Holland vs Adrian, Rushmore vs Hadley and Wimont drew the bye.

Mrs. John P. (Margaret) Murphy, 93 passed away at her home on Tuesday. Funeral services are pending at the Nelson-Hustad Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clem (Helen) Havercamp passed away Tuesday at the Willmar Hospital. No funeral plans have been made as yet.

Ivan Dale Gunderman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorence Gunderman will be ordained into the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, on July 17th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Dr. and Mrs. John Feemster are the parents of a son, Mathew, born July 7th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Phil Fury.

Mr. and Mrs. Roland Neitzel are the parents of a son, Robert, born June 28th. Mrs. Vern Chrestensen is the grandmother.

Because people in the older age groups account for the highest percentage of reactors to the tuberculin test the Minnesota Tuberculosis and Health Association is offering free chest x-rays to residents of the Fulda and Slayton nursing homes. The x-ray will show if the tuberculosis germ in the body of a person who reacts to the test are causing any damage to the lungs.

Sheila Mauer and Ken Schowiller were united in marriage on July 9th at St. Michael’s Church at Morgan.

Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Bernard Kirchner whose death occurred Monday afternoon.

The 1966 Fulda Water Festival date of July 24th is fast approaching.

Fulda Summer Festival to be held July 11 – 12 – 13 with the theme “Remember When”. The Fulda High School Band will hold a concert on Friday evening.

Interstate Power Company filed an electric rate increase request on July 1, 1986 for retail electric customers in Minnesota.

  Wayne Paplow has been appointed acting Mayor of Dundee and will replace Richard Larson who will be moving to California the first of August.

Mr. Larson has been Mayor of Dundee, MN for 12 years.

Fulda Credit Union papers signed; interim board selected.

A Dundee youngster had the misfortune on Monday afternoon of injuring his eye while mowing. Jeromy Peterson had the misfortune of having a foreign object fly up and strike him in the eye. He was immediately taken to the hospital and transferred to Sioux Valley where the hemorrhaging was stopped. It is reported that he can still see but will be observed for a couple of days in the hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Knott wish to announce the birth of a son, Brady, born June 30th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fancis Knott and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Remple.

Brenda Larison and David Baerenwald were united in marriage on June 14th at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington.

Patti Davidson and Thomas Lawson announce their engagement.

Mr. and Mrs. John Gundry to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on July 13th.

David and Pam (Fischer) Storm are the parents of a son, Paul, born June 16th. Grandparents are Marv and Vi Storm and Harold and Ardell Fischer.

Ronald and Karen Sandhurst proudly announce the arrival of Kimberly, born July 5th. Grandparents are Art and Darlene Sandhurst and Mr. and Mrs. Boots Muehlbauer.

Mapleview Estates to hold open house July 14th to give the community a chance to see the layout of the new building. Mapleview Estates’ residents include Louise Hager, Ann Gehl, Martha Goedtke, Lil Popkin, Rita Gerhard, Lillian Heintz, Lois Haupin, Faye Sauder, Stanley Sauder andBruce Haupin.

Farm Expo 2000 will open its gates for the first time on July 16th at the Nobles County Fairgrounds.

Andy Galles, from Mora, MN was all done up for the fourth of July on Thursday in his lucky hat and coat full of stars and strips.

A youth group from Grace Lutheran Church, Worthington and First Lutheran Church in Dundee had the chance to travel to Racine, Wisconsin to work for Habitat for Humanity building homes for low income families.

Iona celebrates 100 years with events including a Little Miss and Mr. Pageant, Old Time Baseball Game, and pony rides.

Prairie House resident of the Month is Mark Nissen.

The home of Toney Honeycutt was heavily damaged on the 4th of July when a fire broke out due to a malfunctioning toaster cord. The fire was fueled by the kitchen remodeling job in progress. Currie, Slayton, and Dovray responded.

Shetek First Responders and the Murray County Ambulance responded to a call on July 7th on Lake Shetek where a boat with nine people aboard tipped over spilling its passengers into the lake. Two children were transported to the hospital.
