The city workmen started painting the white lines on main street this week. It’s a nice improvement for the parking public
Midland Co-op hosted a Canadian Tour for 33 persons which left Wednesday morning and will tour the Central Canada Potash Mine at Colonsay, Saskatechewan. Joining the tour from Fulda were Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Evers, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Danneman and Mr. and Mrs. Ole Grinde.
Senior Citizens Corner – at our Tuesday meeting the female members of the program committee presented an impromptu skit especially to Ted and Martha Dierks in honor of their 49th wedding anniversary. The ladies were in full costume from preacher to groom to bride and flower girl as they had everyone in stitches including Ted and Martha.
The 13th Annual Fulda Summer Festival weekend to be held on July 20- 22.
Work continues on the County Park as Bryan Lund and Dennis Sandhurst install picnic shelters and staining the new picnic tables.

WATERING BAND DECLARED FOR THE CITY OF FULDA – please do not use outdoor watering until further notice.
The Fulda City Council heard from a group of concerned citizens on the number of employees working for the city police department; 2 full time along with several part time employees.
Fulda residents bid a fond farewell to the German Trachten Kapelle Elters/Rhon Band.
Clauson Well Drilling is nearing completion on the new well for the City of Fulda.
Renee Baerenwald will soon be opening her beauty shop in the business district in Fulda The salon will be located in the former Modern Beauty Shop owned by Ruth Jones.
Neat Top Beauty Shop changes hands as Phyllis Steinman hands the cutting shears over to new owner Coleen Bui.
Peggy Kramer and Mark Gehl were united in marriage on Saturday, June 18, 1988 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda, MN with the Rav. Gary R. Clayton officiating.
Joe and Brenda Clausen are proud to announce the birth of their little girl, Christine, born July 13th. Grandparents are Stan and Eva Clausen and Darrell and Mary Horkey.
Doug and Leanne Olsem are the parents of a daughter Sara born July 17th. Grandparents are Don and Bernett Ferbuyt and Paul and Betty Olsem.

Fire Chief Harris Swan presented plans for an additional two Civil Defense Sirens to the City of Fulda at a cost of $15,322 (not including installation). One would be located on the west side and one on the east side of Fulda.
MN Governor Arne H. Carlson announced the awarding of a $578,695 loan to the City of Fulda to upgrade the drinking water system. This is the first loan made in the state under the federal Drinking Water Act which provides matching funds to local communities.
Dwayne Westra, owner of the Hub Drive In, Slayton, was presented the Murray County Shining Star award for the month of July. The Youth and Family Task Force presented a plaque and coffee mug to Westa in honor of his commitment to young people.
Willis Beckmann built a flat bottom fishing boat fromscratch in his garage. The boat will be used on Lake Calcasieu by his son Monty.
Roy and Deloris Humphrey are honored as Maple Lawn Resident of the Month for July.
Ora Denney passed away on July 19, 1998 at the age of 90 years old.
Rosemarie Beerman, age 71, passed away July 15th at her home in rural Brewster, MN.
Dale Smestad passed away at his home on July 15th at the age of 74 years old.
Bob Basche passed away on July 13, 1998 at the age of 68 years old.
Services for Lloyd Bremer, former Fulda resident, were held on Tuesday, July 14th at the First Lutheran Church in Colton, South Dakota.
The Never-Say-Die Fulda Legion boys baseball team put up a noteworthy battle but dropped a 17-13 decision to Edgerton in the final game of the year last Tuesday. Fulda fell behind 13-3 early on but came back in the fifth to cut Edgerton’s lead 13-11. It was a very exciting contest.
The Murray County Relay for Life team ‘The Fulda Wood Ducks’ raise $580.00 for cancer research.
