The Rev. Edward Scheuring has been transferred from Easton to the pastorate of St. Gabriel’s Church at Fulda.

The Fulda Free Press has purchased a Klischograph, a machine designed to take a picture and make an engraving allowing more photos to being printed in the newspaper.

The 21st Annual Homecoming is being held at the Fulda High School – Vicki Steinman has been crowned queen and Al Leinen has been crowned king.

Free chest X-rays will be given to pupils who show a reaction to the tuberculin test when the unit arrives in this area the first part of October. Along with students, the X-rays are offered to anyone working in close contact to the public and people over 55 years of age.

Fred Behr announced that the annual county convention of the Murray County Farmers Union will be held on October 5th at the Village Hall in Avoca.

Lieutenant and Mrs. Paul Rasmussen are the parents of a son, Timothy, born September 12. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Rasmussen and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gehl.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dorpinghaus are the parents of a son Matthew born September 22nd. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Flynn and Mr. and Mrs. Matt Dorpinghaus.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bergstrom are the parents of a son, Timothy, born September 20th. Grandparents are Mrs. Anna Bergstrom and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Grimes.

Mr. and Mrs. William Cuperus are the parents of a son born September 22nd. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Kuehl and Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Cuperus.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Burmeister are the parents of a daughter born September 20th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burmeister and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Neitzel.

Frank Lehnhoff passed away on September 20th after a one week illness at the age of 75 years old.

Gloria Scharping passed away at the age of 27 years old after suffering from a rare tissue disease.

K. Kay Freetly and Clyde G. Van Oort were united in marriage on September 20th at St. Joseph’s Church at Good Thunder.

Janet Eve Kruse and Roy Wm. Wehking were united in marriage on September 24th at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda.

Double bells tied with gold bows at the pews and lighted candelabra and baskets of fall garden flowers at the alter of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda provided the setting for the wedding of Darlene Haseman and Jerold Dick on September 11th.

Heavy rains cause damage to homes in Fulda on Sunday. Residents received more than three inches of rain in just a few hours causing sewer back ups and water damage to basements. Some roads were flooded and unpassable for a short time. It is estimated that Fulda has had approximately 10 inches of rain during the month of September.

Filing for the position of mayor in the city of Dundee are Wayne Paplow and Bruce Boerst; in Fulda Larry Schindler, Syd Halverson and Emory Beckman have filed for the two seats on the council while Wally Getzel and Mary Magnus have filed for the mayor position.

Diane Zemler and Rhonda Sell are co-managers of Fulda’s newest business which is located in the old furniture store. The Fulda Mini Mall will offer many useful and beautiful items, craft supplies, used clothing and furniture as well as many hand-crafted items.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn this month are Lillian Iverson, Grace Onken, Bill Pontow, Sarah Hager and Hulda Brown.

Robyn Kuiper and Michael Rasmussen were married July 11th at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne.

Kayla Grupa and Dayton Westra were married August 16th at Salem United Methodist Church in Blue Earth.

George Miller passed away at the age of 79 years old on September 12th.

Nancy Drier is the new intern pastor at both First and Grace Lutheran Churches in Dundee.

Being chosen as Homecoming Royalty are Sarah Thompson and Brian Zins.

The Fulda School Board met in special session to discuss proposed state aid cuts and how the cutbacks will be handled.

Internet has become a vital part of today’s society as the world seems to revolve around computer usage. Charlie Hopkins, City Coordinator, has been speaking with both Frontier and Rural Communications on internet connections for the Fulda area.

The FLA/FHA will host a Football Fun Run again this year. Each runner, carrying a football, will run 1/2 mile of the 10 mile distance with the total distance being covered in less than 2 hours. Proceeds from the donations, sponsorships, and/or entry fees will be given to Camp Gilbert and Camp Buckskin scholarships. Last years winner was Camp Gilbert with Eric Zins attending the 6 day camp.

Fulda firefighters hosted a SW Minnesota Regional Fire School learning different techniques such as using foam to extinguish a fire.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Holly and Levi Zins; Sarah and Caitlin Strenge; and Sarah and Tyler Opdahl.

Edwin Koehn passed away at the age of 77 years old on September 9th.

Playing in the four person scramble at the Slayton Golf Course on Sunday, Harvey Carroll scored the first hole-in-one of the season using his 7-wood on the third hole.Pickings from the Past
