The Fulda Giants lost to Waseca in the Minnesota State Baseball Tournament with a score of 13 to 14. The Giants came from behind in the ninth inning to tie the game at 13 only to have Waseca score one run in the bottom of the ninth to win the game.

A large crowd was on hand at the 20th Annual Southwestern Minnesota Horse Show held in Fulda on Sunday. Festivities included a horse parade, a trail ride, and a horse contest.
The Fulda Fire Department was called to a grass fire at the Eldo Langfeldt farm on Saturday afternoon.

Miss Mary Eichten and John Kass were united in marriage at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Sept. 2nd with Rev. Edward Scheuring officiating.
Miss Judith Rickerl and Joseph Hemmen were united in marriage on September 2nd at St. John’s Catholic Church in Mankato.

Peter Boomgarden moved to America from Germany in 1923 at the age of 18 years old.
Fulda schools welcome four new teachers; Tammie Vogel and Kara Van Berge will be teaching at St. Paul’s Lutheran School; Linda Beerman will be teaching 3rd grade and Judy Stenzel joins Fulda as a 1st grade teacher at the elementary.
The Fulda City Council has established a Certified Historical Commission Ordinance 136 to survey buildings for historical value. Presently the Fulda State Bank and the Depot are on the National Registry of Historical Places.
Dayna Bultman and Michael Dunteman were united in marriage on August 22nd at first Lutheran Church in Marshall.
Frank Kirchner passed away with funeral services being held on September 12th. Frank was 82 years old.
Funeral services for Hulda Brown were held on September 12th. Hulda was 88 years old.

Water problems continue to plague the city of Fulda as residents attend the council meeting with complaints.
The Fulda City Council raised the tax levy 3.19% for the 1998 year.
Dawn Van Ruler has been hired as a new Nurse Practitioner at Health Care Today.
Richard Johnson, Dundee, chosen as Nobles County Outstanding Citizen.
A benefit will be held for Sandy Berglund who has been plagued with medical problems for the last two years.
Marque Loeschen, one-year-old daughter of Marsha and Don Loeschen of Okabena won the National Beautiful Baby Contest in Illinois in August at age 1.
Citizens of Tomorrow include Eric, Jeffery, Brett, and Nicole Sandhurst; Corey Zins; Emily, Zachary and Joshua Ramerth; and Katrina, Kody, Krissa, and Kole Kramer.
Peter Gronewold, passed away September 4th just shy of nine-months old.
Ervin Hakeneis passed away September 1, 1997 at the age of 77 years old.
Robert Wolf passed away at the age of 58 years old on September 3rd at his home.
