Fulda High School Homecoming Coronation will be held Friday afternoon. Candidates for queen include Margaret Haberman, Mary Elting, Cathy Crowley, and Monica Drealan. Candidates for king include Tom Appel, Randy Wisdorf, Lyle Behr and Sam Herrman.

Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 of the Fulda Public School are in the midst of a Campbell’s Soup can labels drive. The student will need to collect 12,000 in order to obtain a cassette recorder. Help them by saving your labels as well.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home are Ivy Cosgriff, Amanda Anderson, Emma Covert, Lillian Lowe, Emma Lehman, Verema Omberson and Theresa Jorgenson.

Beginning October 5th the library will be open Friday evening from 7 to 9.

Wire coil snow tires, a traction aid for winter driving, are now legal in Minnesota as well as in every other state.

Lyle Beeck rolled a 235 and a 606 series on the Thursday night men’s bowling league. Nice job Lyle.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Visness on September 19th. Grandparents include Mrs. Robert Samp and Mrs. Laura Ulferts.

The marriage of David Czepa and Susan Fincel was solemnized on September 15,1973 at Asbury Methodist Church in St. Paul, Minesota.

Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1988

The 2nd annual POW/MIA Freedom Walk was held in Fulda with Representative Ted Winter, American Legion Commander Butch Kruger, and VFW Commander Edward Schweigert leading the march.

Fulda High School Homecoming candidates include Troy Kirchner, Julie Kramer, Kevin Nordsiden, Tammy Heintz, Teresa Kass, Randy Busch, JoLynn Kunerth and Erin Elder. Coronation will be held Monday, October 3rd.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School holds their Flag Football/Volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Wendy Kilker and David Fletcher are engaged to be married. A November  wedding is planned.

Harm Meyer passed away at the age of 92 on August 30th.

Ethel Pollack passed away on September 24th at the age of 69 years old.

Over 30 friends and neighbors gathered at the Ray Priebe farm to gather in his soybean crop for the year. Ray appreciates their help as he remains in the hospital after suffering a heart attach recently.

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998

Pastor Matt Hausken is the  new intern pastor at First Lutheran and Grace Lutheran churches.

Harvest is in full swing as local farmers enjoy the nice weather and excellent conditions for field work. An estimated 50% of the bean crop has been harvested.

The St. Paul street project is nearing completion. Sidewalks are in place and street lights are awaiting hook ups. Crews should be seen all over town this week on a final clean up mission.

The City of Fulda will celebrate the end of construction with a street party to be held September 30th.

The Fulda Fire Department was called out at approximately 4:30 on Monday afternoon to a chicken coup fire on the Nick Timoshenko property. It was determined to be an accidental fire.

Ethel “Thompson” Reese is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Marie Stumm passed away on September 22nd at the age of 92 years old.

Gordon Vihlen passed away on August 7th at the age of 66 years old after undergoing three heart surgeries.

Fifth grades at the Fulda Elementary School are collecting a million pop tabs as a part of their Math unit.

Fulda Raiders defeated SVRLB 3-0 this week. Heather Uttech lead the Raiders with 15 for 15 serving effort for nine points along with 16 digs, seven set assists and three kills. Also have a great game was Sarah Wendorff with three kills and eight points from the line and Nancy Grandgeorge with four kills.

Turnovers cost the Fulda football team a tough game to Canby with a final score of 28-20. Raider touchdowns game on a 46 yard jaunt by Kent Crowley, a 42 yard run by Gus Mendoza and an 11 yard toss from Tyson Elder to Kent Crowley.

Approximately 150 TOPS members attend the Fall Rally ‘Tune In To TOPS’ hosted on Saturday by the Fulda TOPS group.
