Thursday, June 11, 1959

Minnesota firearms deer hunters took to the woods last fall bagging a record number of  75,141 deer for 38% success.

Mowing of hay fields suspected cause of death and destruction of many nesting pheasants and other birds with one hen per five acres disturbed.

Jerry Veenhuis rites held in Avoca on Thursday. Mr. Veenhuis passed away on June 8th at the age of 79.

Henry Pollak escaped serious injuries Tuesday. While working on his farm the tractor he was on began to overturn so he jumped off receiving compound fracture to the heel of his foot.

Sheila Ice became the bride of Ray Olson at St. Peter on June 7th.

Mr. and Mrs. Derald Hemmen are the parents of a daughter born Sunday in Worthington, MN.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Busch are the parents of a daughter, Roxann, born June 5th.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Disteldorf honored on their Silver Wedding Anniversary with an open house at their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Clarke surprised on their 35th Wedding anniversary by friends and family.

The Fulda City Council approved the resurfacing of the tennis courts at an estimated cost of $3,500.

On June 4th, nearly 200 relatives and friends gathered at the Holinka family farm north east of Fulda to celebrate it’s “Century Farm” status. The original owners were Frank Anton Holinka and his wife Anna.

Chad Carroll finished fourth in the Minnesota State Track Meet in the 800 meter run.

Fulda Independent Coop holds patron meeting at the Fulda Elementary School.

Stacy White and Dan Kirlin announce their engagement. An August 26th wedding is planned.

Margaret Stillo and Joseph Garvin announce their engagement. An August 19th wedding is planned.

Brenda Amundson and Donald Kruger announce their engagement. An August 5th wedding is planned.

Funeral Services were held for Paul Dalin  on June 10th.

Annual Wood Duck Festival theme ‘The Best of the 20th Century’. Henry Schroeder will be honored as Grand Marshall.

A local band, ‘Crossfire’ to perform during the Wood Duck Festival with band members Eric Janssen, Michael Lund, Alan Vierkant, Angela Standafer and Zach Miller.

‘The Great Bibleland Dig’ theme for Vacation Bible School held at the Catholic School.

Tim Biren was ordained on June 15, 1999 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona, MN.

Fulda High School fourth quarter honor roll appears in this issue.

Fulda Legion baseball team defeats WWG 5-1.

Tri 49’ers 4-H Club celebrates their Golden Anniversary on June 26th at the Brewster city park.

Bert and Joey Kolander will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 19th with an open house.

Dell and Margaret Goedtke will be observing their 40th wedding anniversary on June 20th.

George Wilkison passed away on June 12, 1999 at the age of 80 years old.

Melissa Hawkinson and Clint Howry are the parents of a girl, Skyler born May 30th. Grandparents include Daniel and Sheila Hawkinson, Deb Lux, Robert Howry, and David and Donna Shade.

A corps of conservation officers, family members and local observers gathered to commemorate the dedication of the many public water accesses established by Floyd Ragan over the decades.
