Battling against the second-seeded Wabasso Rabbits on their home field in the opening round of the Section 3A high school girls’ fast-pitch softball tournament, the seventh-seeded Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda Coyotes were unable to score a run and were quickly eliminated from the post-season playoffs with a 15-0 loss at Wabasso last Tuesday, May 22.
The Coyotes were able to slap through three singles in the game, but did not score a run in four innings at the plate.
Meanwhile, the highly-regarded Rabbits crossed the plate four times in the bottom of the first inning, scored six runs in an explosive second frame and then put the game away early via the 15-run rule by scoring five more runs in the bottom of third. Wabasso did not need to bat in the bottom of the fourth after holding the Coyotes without a run in the top of the inning.
