The Fulda Raider Girls basketball team earned a split of their two road trip rivalry week games, starting the week with a win over Heron Lake-Okabena 46-38, but falling to Murray County Central 81-29. The Raiders defense led them to the road win in Okabena, but MCC’s stifling traps did the Raiders in during the Friday night contest.
A strong finish to the first half a tough defense all game long helped the Raiders to a 46-34 win over their future teammates from Heron Lake-Okabena. At the game’s outset, it was the Wildcats that jumped out to an early 14-8 lead, utilizing their switching defenses and a nice start from Abi Fest. However, the Raiders charged back to end the first half, finishing on a 13-0 run and taking a 21-14 lead. The strong play continued in the second half behind multiple baskets from McKenzie Evers and Morgan Gehl, and the Raiders led by as much as 14 before late baskets by Wildcat reserves provided the final margin of 46-38. For the Raiders, it was the second consecutive victory.
