The sun shined down as 15 of Fulda’s finest made they way to Redwood Falls for the Section 3A Track and Field meet for their chanc
e at a state birth.
Seventh grader, Morgan Gehl, earned that right advancing to state competition in the 3200 meter run. She finished second at the sub section meet behind Luverne’s Madi Schandelmeier. As the race began Gehl quickly got out front. She settled into a nice spot keeping pace with Redwood’s Lauren Karnitz while Schandelmeier held a 5 meter lead. As Gehl continued around the eight laps of the race she remained steady until the last lap. Midway round the track Gehl started to close in on Schandelmeier and finished just a mere second behind her to earn second place and the right to advance to state. Gehl clipped 11 seconds off her sub section time finishing with a fantastic time of 11:47.49.
