The Fulda Raiders opened up strong and kept fighting throughout the game as they connected from behind the three-point arc nine times to defeated HL-O 86-79 last Thursday on Wildcat turf.
In a fast pace game, the Wildcats scored first taking an early lead of 9-8, however the Raiders found the bucket and returned the favor going up 15 at one point. It was then HL-O’s turn to rally earning them a 34-33 1 point lead.
The score was tied at 41-41 before Fulda sank a pair of free throws with no time left and took a 43-41 lead into intermission.
The Raiders stayed ahead by margins of four to eight points most of the second half.
An impressive 8-0 run late in the second half stretched a 66-65 lead into a 74-65 advantage. Fulda continued to hold off HL-O’s come-back attempts in the closing minutes.
Fulda’s Justin Dierks scored a game-high 26 points and dished off 10 assists, while Matthias Kunerth (17), Dalton Slinger (14) and Ben White (13) also had double-figure scoring totals for the Raiders.
Leading HL-O’s scoring was Kurt Obermoller, 21 points and Logan Knutson, 17 points.
