It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since I received the news that I had breast cancer. As all survivors probably experienced, my first reaction was the realization that this could be terminal. But then I looked around me at all the people I knew who had breast cancer and were still alive, and that gave me the hope I needed at that time. I can think of three others who were diagnosed at approximately the same time (and there may have been more). The three that I can think of are still with us and that certainly is an encouraging sign.
